This narration
mentions the completeness of four glorious categories that Allah and His
Messenger have arranged and in which causes happiness in this life and in the
hereafter. It is al-Islaam, al-Imaan, al-Hijrah,
and al-Jihaad. Each one has been defined comprehensively and outlines
that the Muslim is the one in whom the Muslims are safe from his tongue and his
hand.
It also outlines that
the true form of Islaam is to submit to Allah and to perfect all of one’s acts
of worship and to carry out His rights and the rights of the Muslims. His
Islaam is not complete until he obliges the Muslims with what he obliges
himself. And that is not actualized until they are safe from the evil of his
tongue and the evil of his hand. Indeed this is a foundation of this obligation
which is obligatory for the Muslims. So whoever does not protect the Muslims
from his tongue or his hand how then can he fulfill the obligation which is
upon him to carry out with his Muslim brothers? Therefore their safety from his
evil whether by statement or by action is an indication of the completeness of
his Islaam.
And he (may the peace
and blessings of Allah be upon him) explained that the Mu’min is the one
who safeguards the people’s blood and their wealth. Indeed al-Imaan when
it circulates the heart and fills it, it obligates its companion to carry out
the rights of Imaan which from the most important are protecting the
trusts, honesty in dealing with others (business or otherwise), and maintaining
piety from oppressing the people concerning their blood and their wealth. If
one is upon this then the people will know this of him. They will trust him
with their blood and with their wealth. They will trust him when he carries out
protecting the trusts. Protecting the trust is the most specific of the
obligations of al-Imaan. As he (may the peace and blessings of Allah be
upon him) said: (There is no Imaan for the one in whom there is no
trust.) [Related by al-Bayhaqee in Shu’ab-ul-Imaan and in as-Sunan
al-Kubraa as well as in the Musnad of Imaam Ahmad. Al-Albaanee said
it is a good narration and it has its evidences.]
And he (may the peace
& blessings of Allah be upon him) explained that al-Hijrah is
that which is an individual duty upon every Muslim to emigrate from committing
sins and all forms of disobedience. This obligation is not void of each responsible
person based upon their condition from those conditions that occur for Allah
has prohibited His servants from desecrating the forbidden acts and to delve
into disobedience. The specific form of al-Hijrah which is moving from
the land of Kufr or innovation to the lands of Islaam and Sunnah
is a portion of this type of al-Hijrah but it is not an
obligation placed upon everyone. Rather it is obligatory based only on the
presence of causes that are known to the person in which it occurs.
And he (may the peace
and blessings of Allah be upon him) explained that the Mujaahid is the
one who strives with his soul in obeying Allah. Indeed the soul is inclined to
laziness from those things which are good, a symptom of evil, quickly
influenced by the onset of calamities. The soul requires patience and effort in
adhering to the obedience of Allah, to be firmly established itself upon it, to
strive against disobeying Allah while also preventing itself from it. The soul
strives to be patient during calamities. These are the categories of obedience:
Adherence to what has been commanded, abstaining from the prohibited, and
patience with what has been decreed.
Therefore the Mujaahid
realistically is the one who strives upon these issues to carry out its
obligation and performance. From the noblest of this category and the most
glorious is striving to fight against the enemy, striving against them in word
and action for indeed al-Jihaad in the path of Allah is the peak
of the religion.
So regarding this
narration, whoever carries out what has been shown then he has acted upon the
religion completely. Whoever withholds his tongue and hand against the Muslims,
whoever safeguards blood and wealth of the people, whoever emigrates from what
Allah has prohibited, and whoever strives with his soul upon obedience to Allah
then there will not remain any good, whether for this life or the hereafter
done inwardly or outwardly, left that he has not done or any evil except that
he has abandoned it. And Allah is the only One to grant success.
