General Q&A with Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan

Question One: May Allah reward you Shaykh, what is your opinion of the one who says that what is meant in the Quranic verse by Uool al-Amr (those in charge of running the affairs of the country) are the ‘Ulamaa (the scholars) and not the Umaraa (the Muslim rulers)?

The Shaykh’s answer: This is wrong because the entire verse includes both the ‘Ulamaa and the Umaraa. This is what is correct. Both of them are called Uool al-Amr (those in charge of running the affairs of the country).

Question Two: Are those Muslim who go to the fortune tellers and palm readers labeled with committing Kufr Akbar and treated as those who have left Islam?

The Shaykh’s answer: We say what the Messenger, peace be upon him, said: (Who ever goes to a palm reader or a fortune teller and affirms what they tell them then they have disbelieved in what is revealed to Muhammad.)

Question Three: The questioner asks, what is your reply to the ideology that is taught in the schools that all matter never perishes nor did it come about from nothing despite that Allah is the Originator of the heavens and the earth?

The Shaykh’s answer: This is the words of the people of nature and science, those who speak about nature and do not affirm that there is a creator. The truth is that everything exists from nothingness and will perish after its existence except for Allah, the Glorified the Most High. He has no beginning and no end: {Everything will perish and the only thing that will remain is the face of your Lord, the Possessor of Glory and Nobility.} ar-Rahmaan: 26-27

Question Four: There are some brothers who ascribe to the Jamaa’at-ut-Tableegh. They always invite us to go out with them. They try to prove that they are upon the truth by using the fact that many non-Muslims and others throughout the world have been guided to accept Islam by their doing. What should we say to them?

The Shaykh’s answer: We should ask them, who are the ones that they have guided to Tawheed? Have any one of the non-Muslims, the innovators, or the grave worshipers that the Jamaa’at-ut-Tableegh have guided left off ash-Shirk (idolatry), repented to Allah from it, and come to know at-Tawheed? They advise the people to repent from sins but when it comes to ash-Shirk they never expose it or warn from it. Based on this the worshiping of tombs and graves has increased but they don’t expose it so what is the meaning of this?! What Da’wah are they calling to?! They advise the people to repent from sins and then enter them into the innovations that they traverse upon taken from their well-known methodology.

Question Five: What is the ruling of Salaat-ut-Tasbeeh?

The Shaykh’s answer: It has not been affirmed as being done by the Prophet, peace be upon him rather the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: (Whoever does an act that is not from Islam then it will be rejected.) And it still has never been affirmed (as an act from him). Therefore it is not permissible to do. Also it has some weird aspects in how it is performed. The Prophet, peace be upon him, forbade the recitation of the Quran in bowing and prostration yet the recitation of the Quran is done in it while one is bowing or in prostration. It has descriptions that oppose the legislated prayers which indicate that there is no basis for it so the one who wants to perform good deeds then there are the legislated prayers. Brothers pray Salaat-ud-Duhaa, pray Salaat-ul-Layl, pray Witr, pray the voluntary prayers with the obligatory ones, the door is wide open.
